Google Authenticator is an additional Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) security measure that enhances the protection of your BitTap account. Follow the steps below to set up and enable Google Authenticator on BitTap.
1. Download the Google Authenticator App
First, you need to download and install the Google Authenticator app on your phone. You can get it from the following platforms:
- Android: Go to the Google Play Store, search for “Google Authenticator”, and download the app.
- iOS: Go to the App Store, search for “Google Authenticator”, and download the app.
2. Log in to Your BitTap Account
Use your credentials to log in to your BitTap account. Ensure that you have completed the basic security settings.
3. Go to Security Settings
After logging in, go to Account Settings, then click Security Settings. You will find an option to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Select Google Authenticator as your authentication method.
4. Bind Google Authenticator
The system will generate a QR code and a backup key:
- Scan the QR Code: Open the Google Authenticator app, tap the “+” button at the bottom right, select "Scan QR code", and scan the QR code displayed on the BitTap page.
- Enter the Key Manually: If you cannot scan the QR code, you can manually enter the backup key. Tap the “+” button in Google Authenticator, select "Enter a setup key", and input the key provided by BitTap.
5. Enter the Google Authenticator Code
Google Authenticator will generate a 6-digit verification code. Go back to the BitTap security settings page, enter the Google Authenticator code, and click Confirm. Your Google Authenticator is now successfully linked to your BitTap account.
6. Save the Backup Key
During the setup process, BitTap will provide you with a backup key. Be sure to securely store this key, as you may need it in the future to reset Google Authenticator or switch devices. If you lose this key, you may lose access to your account.
7. Complete the Verification
Once you enter the correct verification code, Google Authenticator is successfully activated. From now on, every time you log in to BitTap, in addition to entering your password, you will need to enter the 6-digit code generated by Google Authenticator to enhance account security.
