If you are unable to use Google Authenticator or need to rebind it, follow these steps to reset your Google Authenticator and ensure your account security.
1. Reset Using Backup Key
When first setting up Google Authenticator, BitTap provides a backup key. If you still have this key, you can easily reset Google Authenticator by following these steps:
- Download and install the Google Authenticator app.
- Open the app and select Scan QR Code or Enter Key Manually.
- Enter the backup key provided by BitTap to rebind Google Authenticator.
2. Unable to Access Backup Key
If you have lost the backup key, you need to contact BitTap’s customer support team and provide identity verification information to reset Google Authenticator. The reset process generally includes:
- Identity Verification: BitTap will require you to provide identity-related information, such as identification documents, registered phone numbers, etc., to confirm your identity.
- Security Verification: Based on BitTap’s security policies, you may need to answer some security questions or complete additional verification to ensure account security.
- Reset Two-Factor Authentication: Once identity verification is complete, BitTap’s support team will disable the current Google Authenticator and allow you to set up a new one.
3. Enabling a New Google Authenticator
After resetting, follow these steps to rebind Google Authenticator:
- Log in to your BitTap account and go to Security Settings.
- Select Enable Google Authenticator and follow the prompts to complete the binding process.
- Use the new Google Authenticator-generated code to enhance your account security.
Important Notes:
- Be sure to save the new backup key when resetting, in case you need to reset it again in the future.
- Ensure your device’s time is synchronized with network time to avoid invalid verification codes affecting future operations.
