If you encounter errors while using Google Authenticator, please follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Ensure Device Time is Synchronized
Google Authenticator generates codes based on your device’s time. If the time is incorrect, the verification code may become invalid.
- Go to your device’s Date & Time settings and enable "Set time automatically" or "Sync with network time".
2. Rebind Google Authenticator
If you have changed your device or the app cannot generate the correct verification code, it is recommended to rebind Google Authenticator.
- Use the previously saved backup key to reset Google Authenticator.
- If you do not have a backup key, contact BitTap customer support to reset your Google Authenticator.
3. Restart or Reinstall the App
Sometimes, issues with the app can be resolved by restarting your device or reinstalling Google Authenticator.
- Uninstall and reinstall Google Authenticator, then use your backup key to rebind your account.
4. Unable to Access Google Authenticator
If you lose access to Google Authenticator (e.g., device loss or damage), follow BitTap’s account recovery process to reset Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
Important Notes:
- It is highly recommended to securely store your Google Authenticator backup key when binding it to prevent loss of access in case of device changes or loss.
- If your phone’s time is out of sync or you experience Google Authenticator errors, resynchronizing your time settings can often resolve the issue quickly.
- Before changing devices or uninstalling the app, make sure to unlink Google Authenticator from your BitTap account and then rebind it properly.
